The first international BJJ competition held in Hong Kong was a success with teams from Taiwan, Phillipines and Japan coming to compete.

Thanks must go to: Kei-san, Taki-san, Chi and Hara-san for organising, keeping score and time keeping as well as to the referees Aramaki-san, Ken and Ali who did a fantasic job!

Thank you also to those that came to compete and help support this event. Hope to see you again next year!

Professor Wado-san from Academia Az gym in Tokyo will be coming to Hong Kong from 14th to 19th September and teaching at KLN BJJ. There be a seminar held on the 16th of September starting from 2:30pm. The venue to be announced later.

Also Aramaki-san (3rd place Brown Belt division Mundial 2006) will be coming at the same time.

1st Girl Blue Belt In HK!

Congratulations to Soiscie for becoming the 1st girl in HK to receive a blue belt in BJJ due to her outstanding performance in the SEA Grappling Games in Bangkok. The belt was awarded by Taki-san.

Also HKBJJ (and BJJ in general), received greater exposure this weekend with a taping session at TVB organised by Henry with Thomas, Leo and one of Thomas's student all helping out in the demonstration. The taping is for a fitness program to be shown on the 21st at night.

As well as this, there was a demonstration of various martial arts in Aberdeen at a sports centre, with BJJ being one of them. The demonstration for BJJ was performed by Taki-san, Makoto-san, A-wan and I.

Friday night's class was extra special with Prof. Wado-san awarding the brown belt to Taki and blue belts to Makoto and Benny, congratulations! After that the Brazilian tradition of a belt whipping on the back and being thrown by Taki and Prof. Wado-san.

Saturday's class was held at the South China Athletic Association. The class started off with some gi takedowns. After that the class was split into 2 groups white belts and advanced belts with Prof. Wado- san showing techniques to each group. Lots of effective technique shown.

Just to let you know there will be another seminar, this time by Professor Toshiyuki Wado on November 3rd, 4th and 5th.

Professor Wado received his black belt for Leonardo Vieira, who was ADCC 2003 Champion and competed in this year's Mundials in Brazil. He is also one of the top black belts in Japan. This is again another great opportunity to learn some great BJJ technique, so please try not miss it as this seminar is highly recommended!

Just a reminder the Copa Kowloon 2005 Intra Competition open to all white belts, will be held this Staurday (27/8). Why white belts? Because there's more white belts than blues or purples!

For those still interested in competing it's still not too late to sign up. You can put your name down on the competition sheet stuck on wall in the dojo.

Saturday's mini competition is good for those wanting to test out their skills and have some fun without the all the pressure. Plus there will be a Bad Boy gi to be won and other prizes!
